Born in Whittier, CA, Carlos Solórzano is trilingual (Spanish, French, and English), with extensive experience in both education and business. Mr. Solorzano attended Cal State University, Fullerton, specializing in Spanish Linguistics and Literature. In addition, Mr. Solorzano attended La Universidad Complutense, Madrid, Spain, and also attended La Sorbonne, Reims, France. Graduate studies in Sociolinguistics took Mr. Solórzano to the University of Southern California (USC).
Teaching Experience: Mr. Solorzano started his teaching career as an Adjunct Professor at Cal State Fullerton (11 years). He also was an Adjunct Professor at Fullerton College (17 years), Cypress College (3 years), USC (2 years). In addition, he taught high school (24 years), and was Department Chair (14 years).
Business Experience: (1979-1988) President of Environmental Design, Inc. Mr. Solórzano was responsible for all parts of the company including supervising the conceptual design to the implementation of residential and commercial construction projects. EDI excelled in innovative solar energy active and passive designs, sometimes as separate projects, and at times, hybrid projects.
(1989-1992) - Vice President of the Language Group, Inc., and founding principal of the corporation which specialized in the marketing, sales and distribution of an English Language program for Adult Non-English speakers. The main marketing campaigns focused on numerous infomercials on a variety of Spanish speaking radio stations throughout Southern California.
2015 - 2018 - Solar Promise, LLC - Founding principal, and provided marketing, sales, and construction experience to a national Non-Profit Solar Energy Company.
Community Service and Awards: 2008 – Appointed to the Board of Directors for CREER (non-profit), and a member of the Latino Business Council in San Juan Capistrano. 2004 - 2007 – Served on the Board of Directors for AYSO in San Juan Capistrano. 2005-2009 - Served on the Board of Directors for San Juan Capistrano Little League (SJCLL) (2006 - 2009) – 1988 USC – Recipient of the Latino Community Service Award for contributions of Community Service to the public schools surrounding the USC campus. May 1994 & December 2000 - Staff of the Month – Montclair High School. 2004 - Staff of the Year – Montclair High School, 1996 - Special Service Award for contributions to Chaffey School District. 1996 through 2006 - Selected for ten consecutive years to the list of teachers of Who’s Who in America. 1984 – Appointed to the Orange County Energy Committee by the Orange County Board of Supervisors.
Carlos Solórzano resides in Orange, CA and has three children, Bianca, (Master’s Degree), Loyola University, Carlos Jr., 3rd year medical student at UCLA. and Raquel, a senior at Cal State University, Fullerton.
